American Society of Professional Estimators Sustainability Committee
Mission: Prepare the membership with tools and information to help them contribute to the greater success of their projects through their knowledge of and expertise in estimating the cost of sustainability related design elements.
Vision: ASPE members become the recognized leaders in the understanding and communicating costs related to sustainable design.
Goals:
Education:
- Provide an Estimating Academy Seminar available to individual chapters for
use as a fund raiser and as an educational tool to be promoted to the local
Construction industry.
- Provide the membership with information on current and emerging sustainable technologies through newsletter articles and white papers. This will include republication of articles from other publications and original research and estimating methodologies.
Standardization:
- Identify, research and provide helpful information on strategies and technologies for construction sustainability.
- Develop a standard for cost estimating sustainable design components including LEED and other rating systems which will be usable during preconstruction and at the LEED Design Charrette, thereby providing added value to the preconstruction process.
Professionalism:
- Provide the membership with knowledge and tools that will assist them in addressing these new aspects of their estimates.
- Review the Society Business Office practices and recommend sustainable design changes to demonstrate our commitment to sustainability within our organization.
- Review the bylaws for possible revisions that will incorporate sustainable design features and recommend changes to the bylaws committee.
Certification:
- Develop and recommend questions to be added to the General Estimating Knowledge (GEK) test and the General, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Discipline Specific Tests (DST's).
Fellowship:
