| Starting in the April 2012 issue
| | <p><strong><br />CERTIFICATION COMMITTEE COMMENT CORNER</strong></p>
<p>We want to start a new section called the "Comment Corner" in our magazine. The idea for this came from our Certification Committee meeting in Nashville a few weeks ago. This column will be dedicated to the issues of the Certification Committee and will allow you as members to get answers to frequently asked questions.</p>
<p>As many of you are aware, last October a questionnaire was issued to approximately 2,400 members. The SBO received over 750 responses. This is a great response. The last question stated "What suggestions do you have or improvements you would like to see made in the Certification Program or in ASPE?</p>
<p>The various responses deserve answers from this committee. After discussions and partial reviews, the idea was created to establish a column for this purpose.</p>
<p>First, the committee thanks all of those who recognized and acknowledged the work being done "behind the scenes" by the certification committee and SBO staff. Those positive comments really help us with the tasks ahead. The program would not survive without the dedication of both the committee members and Tanya Graham the Certification Coordinator.</p>
<p>Secondly, due to the high number of very similar or duplicate concerns or ideas, the response comments will be grouped by categories, answered, and then printed in the magazine.</p>
<p>Look for this to start in the April 2012 issue. We as a committee look forward to it.</p>

| ASPE names new Executive Director
| | <p>NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE, November 4, 2011</p>
<p>Patsy M. Smith has been named the new Executive Director of the American Society of Professional Estimators. She has been serving as the Director of Administration for the Society the past 8 years.</p>
<p>"I am very gratified at having been selected as the Society's next Executive Director from a pool of highly<br />qualified candidates" said Smith. "I look forward to working with the Board of Trustees and our new<br />Assistant Executive Director, Christian Lutz, to advance the leadership position of ASPE on a national<br />scale."</p>
<p>Christian Lutz will join ASPE as the Society's first Assistant Executive Director. Lutz has 9 years of<br />experience with non-profit organizations. He most recently served as the Executive Director for the Iowa<br />Architectural Foundation in Des Moines, IA. Lutz will be relocating to Nashville, TN where he will<br />undertake this role beginning December 1, 2011.</p>
<p>The selections were made by the Search Committee and the National President of ASPE, Keith Jones,<br />CPE. According to the Search Committee, "At a time when all associations face great challenges, we<br />are fortunate to have both Patsy's and Christian's experience and expertise serving the membership,<br />achieving the vision of the Society, and advancing the construction estimating profession."</p> | | PressRelease-NewExecDir-11042011.pdf | | |
