CPE Frequently Asked Questions

ASPE member fee: $655

Non-ASPE member fee: $790

Program fees are all-inclusive and non-refundable.

Candidates will receive the General Estimating Knowledge (GEK) Study Guide to assist in preparation for the GEK exam. The Technical Paper and Discipline Specific Tests (DSTs) are a measure of the candidate’s experience and knowledge, there is no formal study guide.

Candidates must complete the following within six months:

  • Submit the online application and pay the CPE program registration fee
  • Read the CPE Handbook
  • Write and submit a technical paper on an approved technical paper topic (estimated completion time is eight weeks).
  • Achieve a minimum score of 70% on each of the three certification exams. Each is a four-hour online proctored exam, listed below:

To maintain the CPE credential, you must meet the following annual renewal requirements:

  • A minimum of 24 Professional Development Units (PDUs) must be earned and supporting documentation submitted via an online PDU journal
  • Complete and submit the annual CPE renewal application
  • Remit payment of annual CPE renewal fees:

    ASPE member annual AEP renewal fee: $50

    Non-ASPE member annual AEP renewal fee: $350

ASPE strives to keep the program fees as low as possible. However, we do not accept financial aid or offer any payment plans. Program fees must be paid in full before you are considered a candidate and are allowed to begin the program.
